(i) develop, review and implement policies relating to registration and licensing, internship, continuing professional development programs, certification of engineering technology programs in Universities and other tertiary level educational institutions;
(ii) develop, review and implement registration and licensing tools, standards, guidelines and manuals for engineering technology professionals within the relevant fields;
(iii) register, license, gazette, publish and maintain the register of eligible engineering technology persons and consulting firms;
(iv) ensure the design, development and maintenance of the registration and licensing information management systems;
(v) recommend for Cancellation, revocation and withdrawal of registration documents and licenses which violates the provisions of Act;
(vi) assess and recommend for approval or rejection of engineering technology qualifications of foreign persons intending to offer engineering technology professional services or works in Kenya;
(vii) develop, review and implement tailor-made engineering technology programs in collaboration with training institutions, organizations and professional associations for continuing professional development of engineering technology professionals;
(viii) coordinate with institutions and organizations involved in offering engineering technology services, works and products to facilitate internships and maintain a database of interns;
(ix) conduct professional examinations for the purposes of registration of engineering technology professionals; and
(x) determine disciplines of engineering technology.
(i) develop, review and implement standards, guidelines and manuals for engineering technology professionals in management, marketing, professional ethics, environmental issues, safety, legal matters or any other relevant field;
(ii) develop and review code of ethics for engineering technology professionals in collaboration with other stakeholders;
(iii) make recommendations to the Board on the fees to be charged by engineering technology professionals and firms for professional services/works rendered from time to time;
(iv) carry out inspection on sites where construction, installation, erection, alteration, renovation, maintenance, processing or manufacturing works are in progress for the purpose of verifying that-
▪ Engineering professional services and works are undertaken by registered persons;
▪ Standards and professional ethics and relevant health and safety aspects are observed, in line with Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007;
(v) undertake inspection on business premises for verification purposes or for monitoring works, services and goods rendered by professional engineering technology professionals;
(vi) make recommendations for the suspension of any engineering technology professional services, works, projects, installation process or any other engineering technology works, which are done without meeting the standards;
(vii) recommend for disciplinary measures in accordance with the provisions of the Act;
(viii) engage and determine such disputes relating to the professional conduct or ethics of engineering technology professionals;
(ix) issue, maintain and enforce code of ethics for engineering technologists and technicians and regulate the conduct and ethics of the engineering technology profession in general;
(x) conduct inquiry on complaints with regard to any professional misconduct;
(xi) undertake investigations on complaints, allegations, breach of code of conduct and suspicion of non- compliance.
